production- music editing


 I already spoke about how I found the music I liked. There was much searching, and I sent myself the files. However, recently, as I went to save it to my phone, there were issues. It was another downloading problem. Like with C’s lines, I couldn’t get it to my phone for a while. I opened the email links, and ran into a problem instantly. Apparently direct downloads aren’t supported by the type of phone that I have, an iPhone. I tried saving it to my phone from the laptop I had, to no avail. The laptop wouldn’t save things for literal ‘unknown reasons’, as the pop-up told me. Email, similarly, wouldn’t work. 


At first I thought it was the file format. I tried putting it into a MP3 converter, but any laptop version of it was not working. I tried doing it from my phone by converting a YouTube video link of the music, but any version of a converter on my phone had to be online vs the reliable app that I had. I sifted through some of the online versions but they were all sketchy. After trying and failing, I used all my brain cells to make the observation that the files were already MP3 files. So I supposed it was a matter of HOW I was sending it. I tried doing it the way I downloaded lines. I was sent C’s lines on SharePoint, so I thought Microsoft365 would allow me to save things and open it up on my phone. I signed in on the laptop and saved the files to the OneDrive. Then, I logged in on my phone. Regrettably I had to wait for better Wifi, but once I could do that, this method worked fine. I took them from the OneDrive and saved them to my phone files.

 Filming itself was completed over the weekend. The whole thing was done it one shot, in order of storyboards. The plushie I used for Mickey had less range of movement than it used to, as it's aged a few years. Because of this, I changed up his posing, deviating from the boards a bit. It did keep falling over though, specifically when I attempted to pose him upright, especially with the wind.  The plushie for A and C fell over more than a few times during the process as well, so I propped them up with water bottles. I did this in a way that isn't visible on camera. A fell down anyway though, so I had to fix that one in particular a lot. We filmed the glitter vomit scene last, as planned. It worked out nicely. I and my camera person also filmed some landscape shots and close ups for additional room to put in credits. Genre research ( Drama )

 Camera-  Camera tends to show facial expressions and movement in a straightforward way Angles- Shoulder or eye level shots  Movement- Movement is very thought out and emotional. Costumes-  Period pieces are often dramas, so outfits are chosen accordingly Lighting- Colored lighting sometimes utilized Acting- Often sadness is an emotion used in drama films, especially during the final act. There isn't one way to show emotion, so often actors will experiment and improv with how lines are said or scenes delivered. Makeup- Makeup is kept simple if not appropriate to the time period Props- Unless plot relevant props are also kept simple Set- Settings are usually every day life type settings, not too fantastical Editing- Slow motion is utilized often, or perhaps a split screen Sound- Narration and/or  soliloquy  is a tool used very often in drama films. Music is almost always used as well.

Change of plans

 On my first day of filming I found I actually couldn't film in the media center, which is unfortunate. Thankfully it's not going to be impossible to work with. What I ended up filming was a crude little test clip in the AICE Media classroom. What I will most likely be doing is filming the majority of the scenes in that room as well. The only problem s maybe the noise. During editing will most likely edit a voiceover overtop of the original recording. In a classroom setting I would probably record final lines in the moment, but the noise makes it not an option. Don't get me wrong, I'll film lines in the moment as well. The difference is these lines just won't be the ones in the final take.
