Production- Filming day

The day I had in mind to film didn't work. I planned to meet the person playing character C ( Amanda )  on Friday. But it wasn't mean tot be. I had too many people over at my house. She has a ride to my place but not back. I couldn't drive her back because we would have finished late. Saturday she was busy. Sunday I was busy. After a long phone conversation, we  figured it out. Finally, filming could commence.

And yet, we ran into even more problems. We scheduled to meet, but on that day I was misinformed about a meeting that I had for a different class. I couldn't miss it, it was earlier than I had thought it was and it ate up a solid four hours. Then, Amandas mother had a dentist appointment that she couldn't miss, which then cut into our schedule. It wouldn't be a problem if either of us could drive, but alas. We met at around 7:00, and after dinner and prep the sun had gone down, so the lighting was terrible. We did a lot of blocking,  filmed a few shots though. A majority of it will be filmed later, hopefully on day 2, luck will be on our side

 Here are my film pitches - An alien seeks to make friends on their new planet with the support of their one non-alien friend. They debate going up to a group of strangers to make friends. - A person resents their primary caregiver and wishes for something different, only to subconsciously seek out people just like their caregiver, furthering a cycle. Whether they continue or break the cycle is up to the audience.  -  A person is kind of a pushover, they will end up saying yes, or just complying to most things, never looking out for their own self interest. They learn to be selfish, for the better.  I can't help be the most compelled by the first one, my very first idea. I really like all the others, but I can't imagine them living up to my vision, whereas I think I could accomplish the first idea I pitched. Aliens and even non-aliens could look like anything, so i could do voiceovers, stand-ins for humans, actual humans, etc.

Group

 I have chosen to work alone on our up and coming assignment. I tend to work better without a group. The project is one that involves filming, so that should be fun. We have to storyboard as well. This is when you essentially make a comic of what you plan to film. Each panel is about six seconds of film. The panels themselves don't have to be detailed, just enough to know what is happening. When you film based off of them, you tend to not film in order. This is manly for convenience. If a scene changes locations a lot, you should film all the scenes set in one location in one go. This makes it so the actors wont have to move from place to place. After filming, you'll find you have multiple shots. The job of the editor is to pick the best ones. Often some shots were not storyboarded, and were instead improvised. Editors will have to find their place. Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

Short film:   My first impression is that this short is very ominous, frightening, and a bit sad as well. Lots of dark colors, no dialogue. The plot involves sentient rag dolls labeled by number, the protagonist being 9. What seemed to be his last remaining friend was killed saving him from the antagonist, a robotic cat like beast. None of the characters develop, the plot revolves around 9 defeating the monster and avenging his fallen companions. It was animated relatively well, with the only sound being the characters interacting with their environments. If there was music it was brief and simplistic enough to go unnoticed. It follows the conventions of thriller, with feelings of suspense and a dark background, as well as that of thriller, with a post-apocalyptic setting and non-humans taking center stage.  Full-length film: My first impression of the full length film was that it was not silent.
