My pitch

1.

- In an effort to make friends, a high-schooler throws a Halloween party. However, a ghost spirit remains lingering in the home in which she throws it. The spirit is alone as well. She is the only one able to see her. She invites her out unknowingly. They become fast friends. Their goal is to find out the ghosts unfinished business so she can rest in peace. Hijinks ensue.

- This version of the film appears to be more of a family film or perhaps a drama. I tend to favor those sorts of films. If I film at home, it would allow me to have access to any materials I have there. This would make prop gathering easier. But, It would take some effort to get my home aesthetically appropriate. In fact I might be limited to my garage. While my garage is big enough to have a small party setting, it means I'd have to get really creative with angles so the shots don't feel cramped. I'd also have to cover, distract from, or integrate all the bits and bobs my family has lying around. However, I can also see the party scene in question being shot outdoors. The biggest problem I see there is that to fit a Halloween aesthetic, I would probably have to film at night, putting me on a time constraint. I would also have to take weather into account.

or alternatively..

2.

- In an effort to make friends, a high-schooler throws a Halloween party. The party could be going better. The guests insist on a ghost summoning. When the ghost is summoned, it terrorizes the group. The high-schoolers are unable to leave. This leaves them with no choice but to send find a way to send them back. The question is how, and what does it want.

- In order to have the feeling of a confined space, I will likely be limited to filming in a singular room. The room itself is important, as most of the film will be shot there. My garage is an option for this film as well. If done correctly it can be made to feel smaller than it is. However, the boxes and tools and such lying around is still a problem. I might have to cover it up. Although I do like the idea of making the things I have lying around plot relevant. I have a variety of things there. This would likely be a more scary film, I could use a number of things. I have power tools, a punching bag, plywood, etc. I probably won't be able to use the power tools, but they'd fit the setting. Another option would be to turn my garage into a makeshift bedroom for more of a slumber party aesthetic. I'd film in my room but it's quite small. I could use sheets and mattresses to make it look the part, or even just have the slumber party be IN a garage. Id have to write that into my script. Maybe make it comedic.

Ultimately I've decided to pick my first pitch. There are more options for settings, and the setting ideas are more sound. I can probably set them up in a shorter amount of time. I like my garage for this but the second pitch could get complicated fast, and I'd like to not overthink my options for decorating it.
