Production blog: Props
Last night I went prop shopping for props with my mother and cousin. A new dollar store opened up in my area so I decided to go there first. I actually had never been there until this project. There was a huge craft section. There was lots of paper and beads and stickers and tape and such, much more than the other dollar stores in my area. I already had craft paper, a lot of acrylic paint, and some other materials from a pervious project, so I kept that in mind while shopping. I tried to limit myself to materials I needed for the puppet props and nothing else. I thought about getting a flower to go with the bee puppet I plan on , but I didn't. I also wanted frog plushie for my own enjoyment but I decided against it. This is mostly because ended up with more product than anticipated.
My mother needed some items, and my cousin, who is seven, requested a stuffed animal, so those were purchased. We needed white paint, the only color I was missing, so we bought that. I figured a hot glue gun would be useful, so we bought one along with some glue refills. We bought some pompoms to decorate the puppets, as well as some glitter. For the puppets themselves I bought a pack of three paper bags. That makes three puppets. I found a wooden cutout for the elephant, the bumblebee will be one of the pom-poms, and the birds will be stuffed animals. I looked everywhere for strings to physically puppet my puppets but there was nothing but yarn, which probably wouldn't look the best. I thought this was weird considering the store sold beads. I decided to buy skewers to just glue to the non paper bag puppets. And that concluded my shopping trip, let's hope I have everything I need.
